Marcus Koehler

Scientist
Research Department, Integrated Forecast Systems Section, System Design Group

Summary:

I work on the OpenIFS Project. My role includes the further development of the OpenIFS model and therein I collaborate with scientists within ECMWF and with model users at other institutions. My research background is in numerical modelling of atmospheric chemistry and chemistry-climate interactions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • OpenIFS/AC Project: Implementation of gas-phase and aerosol chemistry in OpenIFS (in collaboration with KNMI and Member State scientists)
  • Development of the OpenIFS Web User Interface for the generation of input data
  • Design and delivery of OpenIFS training courses and workshops
  • User support
Professional interests:
  • Atmospheric chemistry in OpenIFS
  • Tracer transport in OpenIFS
  • User support and professional training with OpenIFS
  • Chemistry-climate interactions
  • Tropospheric oxidizing capacity and the impact of emissions
  • Climate impacts of the aviation transport sector
